EXCLUSIVE FSM ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: FTH (FULL TIME HUSTLAZ)

posted under by The MECCA of Rhymes | Edit This

At what point did you decide you wanted to be an artist?

We decided we wanted to shake up the game around 2005. We all have been involved with music for many many years.

How did you come up with your stage name?

Everything in life was a hustle at that time and we decided that Full Time Hustlaz was an appropriate name to describe the group.

Do you have any musical influences?

You name it and we have either found or can find something influential about it.

Do you have any upcoming projects we should look out for?

Young Money: You know How We Roll
Boi One-Da: Radio On Remix
Heron: The Waiting Room
Collectively: currently untitled, but it will be the 3rd installment of our mixtape series.

Where do you see your music career in the next five years?

Alive...we want our careers to be alive.

Where can fans purchase your mixtape/album?

FTH Presents: Hustling for Dummies Vol. 2 is available for free download...just join the group on facebook or myspace.com/fthnc haha and yes that's a plug, oh and we can't forget about twitter.com/fthnc

If you could work with any major producer for your single, who would it be and why?

Kanye West
Stevie Wonder
Heat Makerz
DJ Toomp

How will this FSM Artist and Producer Showcase be beneficial to you as an artist?

It gives us an opportunity to let people hear what we take pride in doing, making real hip hop. We hope that doesn't step on anyones toes, but if you get offended then you may want to re-evaluate your music lol.

Now that we’ve brought a few labels to our area to show them our talent. What do you think we need to continue to do, in order to help take our local talent to the next level?

Support, especially fighting to get local artists on our local radio stations.

Any shoutouts?

First and foremost we would like to thank our savior for blessing us with the gift to entertain through music. Shout out to Mr. Powell for throwing drum sticks and keeping us involved in the arts. Shout out to Armstrumentals, Dope Boi Productions, Ralph Da Rula, 3P Entertainment, Wykia of FSM (you the best), Cashtro Mils, Othaz Records, Naps Krew, Bigg B and Shandra from Coast 97.3, Maximus Music, DJ E Sudd, East Side Greensboro for showing love, Little Brother, Top Dawg, Clef Town Studios for inspiring us to have our own, Antoinette (Our PR), Bullet, and a big thanks to our photographer/fashion coordinator Aaliyah and WE OUT!!

Q:At what point did you decide you wanted to be an Artist?

A:Around 9th grade

Q: How did you come up with your name?

A: It came from my friends when I was younger they label me as the get away driver, so they called me Rush. My homie J Gutta added the Young to it later.

Q: Who are some of your favorite Artist?

A: My personal favorite is Andre from Outkast. I also like Jay-z, Nas, Lauren Hill, Biggie, Pac, Big L, Kanye, Common, Wayne, The Mecca Of Rhymes, Hendrix Law, and T.I. to name a few.

Q: Do you have any upcoming projects we should look out for?

A: I am featured on F.O.E. (Family Over Everything) album released under D.F.D.O. (Down From Day One) and I am currently working on my solo debut Flight Risk being released under F.S.M. (Flight School Music).

Q: Where do you see your music career in the next five years?

Q: Where can we hear and purchase some of your Music?

A: I’m on Twitter (@YRushit), Myspace (Young_Rush), and Facebook. When my debut album drops it will be in all the internet stores as well as some local and national stores or you can get one in the streets of N.C. because we still go hand to hand.

Q: If you could work with any major artist, who would it be and why?

A: No question Andre 3000. His one of the most creative and lyrical artist of our time and his been a large influence on my career.

Q: How will this FSM Artist and Producer Showcase be beneficial to you as an Artist?

A: Well I can’t recall having this type of opportunity before so it’s definately a chance to grab some industry shine and put on for my state, but it’s also a learning experience for me as well.

Q: Now that we’ve brought a few labels to our area to show them our talent. What do you think we need to continue to do, in order to help take our local talent to the next level?

A: Just keep the opportunities coming and I feel we can handle the rest. It’s a lot of undiscovered talent in my State, all we need is the chance to bring it to the light.

Q: Any shoutouts?

EXCLUSIVE FSM ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: STAHLEN

posted under by The MECCA of Rhymes | Edit This

Stalen Wright (born May 6, 1983), who performs under the Name Stahlen (for pronunciation purposes), is an American rapper, storyteller and scholar. The son of a single mother of five, he was born and raised in Springfield Massachusetts. Although he dropped out of college, he managed to attain a high degree of literacy which is prominent in his lyrics. His debut mixtape Throw Away Rhymes, was released in 2009 and hosted by DJ Flash (http://www.hallofjustus.com). Stahlen wrote his first rhyme on a paper plate while working a nine to five at Duane Reade convenience store in Nassau County New York in 2003. From there he moved to several states living with friends while perfecting his craft in attempt to break free of his poverty-stricken lifestyle. In 2004 he and a friend ( Zeb ) took refuge from the streets only to find themselves in the home of a crack addict and thief. Eventually selling drugs became part of their survival toolbelt. A wide variety of hardships has molded Stahlen into the dominate lyricist he is today. The repeated change of environment has greatly impacted the graceful style of lyricism he delivers. In 2005 he moved to Greensboro North Carolina where he continued to pursue his dream in hopes of success.
